Quilt Vocab

Binding – The strips of fabric that attach to the back and the front of the quilt either by machine or hand that ultimately completes the quilt.
Nesting – Method by which quilters will press seams in opposite directions so they can match intersections more easily.  By pressing one block one way and the block to match the other way they connect and it makes it easy to match seams.

Nesting Example
Setting the Seam – The act of pressing a seam after it stitching and then pressing it open.  It creates a more crisp press and look of the overall block.
Stitch in the Ditch – Method of quilting where you top stitch in a seam already completed. It almost hides your quilting and, in my opinion, is the easiest form of quilting for beginners.
